Disaster in Fiji

Rotary is appealing for funds to support the many thousands of families in Fiji following the devastation from Cyclone Winston.

714 Rotary Emergency Response Kits prepositioned at three locations in Fiji have already been dispatched to affected areas. In addition Rotary has arranged for Family Food Packs containing a week’s supply for a family of four, these were pre-packed in Fiji prior to the Cyclone and have now been distributed.

Rotary will be collaborating with Government officials “on the ground” in Fiji and the Fiji Disaster Management Office to ensure that the Emergency Response Kits and Food Packs are directed for best possible advantage to those affected. Rotary in Fiji is providing logistical support.

The appeal funds we collect will be used for the payment of more Emergency Response Kits and Family Food Packs. We are also looking to support families rebuild their homes and re-establish their vegetable gardens. Several members of the Rotary Club of Noosa Heads have friends and associates living in Fiji. We have been in touch and have received suggestions and advice of areas in greatest need. We will also support and assist with health and education issues.
