Geoff Bone

During my early career in the furniture industry I was invited to move from Adelaide to Darwin to establish a new Retail business. It was there I joined Rotary in 1969. I served as President of the Rotary Club of Darwin North in 1974, the year Cyclone Tracy visited.

1979 brought a change in careers, I moved to Brisbane and joined the Brisbane West [now Toowong] Rotary Club. A move to NSW in 1988 saw me joining the Rotary Club of Ballina.

As I had been developing a few rural properties in Queensland since the late 70's, I decided to move back and settled in beautiful Noosa.

I have 4 children, 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. My son and two grandchildren live in Darwin, a daughter on Kangaroo Island South Australia and another two daughters in Queensland.

Apart from Rotary, my other interests are travel, computers and gardening. As a Rotarian I’ve served in most positions at Club level, chaired a number of committees and helped in numerous community projects. At District level, following several years as Club [now Cluster] Coordinator, I served as an Assistant District Governor for the Sunshine Coast. Apart from a short break in 2015, I have been Chairman of the RYDA NOOSA (Rotary Youth Driver Awareness program since 2008.

My Rotary memories are spread over nearly 50 years. I have, and still do enjoy the friendly company of fellow Rotarians and get great satisfaction out of assisting those in need. I can recommend Rotary membership to everyone.
